About Us The Black Latinx AIDS Project (BLAIDS) at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is a community service project created by the organization Latinx/Chicanx for Community Medicine (LCCM) in 1991 as a response of the increasing HIV/AIDS diagnosis within the Black and Latino community in Los Angeles area. BLAIDS was initiated by a group of students who saw the urge to help educate youths about HIV/AIDS, STDs/STIs, and teen pregnancy as well as advocate and stop stigma surrounding these concurrent issues. As a community service project, BLAIDS collaborates with community partners to ensure individuals in the community are well informed about sexual and reproductive health.
BLAIDS prides itself by being one of the few organizations in UCLA that promotes education and outreach on topics pertaining to sex and women's health to black and brown communities. |

Our Mission
Our mission is to advocate for brown and black communities through informing our community about sexual health and reproductive health. BLAIDS hopes to educate youths in the community about sexually transmitted diseases and infections, HIV/AIDS, teen pregnancies, and women's health. Through outreach and education, BLAIDS envisions a future where youths are well informed to make critical choices about their overall health. BLAIDS is committed towards providing sexual and reproductive resources to UCLA students, youths in the community, and fellow members.
Sexual and reproductive health resources and education are limited in Black and Latinx communities. As a result, BLAIDS targets to open conversations about the importance of breaking down stigma and having vital conversations about sexual and reproductive health.

Community ServiceMembers will have the opportunity to work directly with youths in Los Angeles and gain experience in public health towards sexual and reproductive health.

LeadershipMembers are able to co-lead events and apply for internships. Members will also have the opportunity to apply for clinical research assistant positions with a HIV family clinic.

NetworkingBLAIDS invites speakers from the HIV community and health policy delegates. Members will have the opportunity to network with medical professionals and health care providers.
